Chat and Studio
One project, two ways to work on it. Talk it through, or take the controls.
Every project has two views. The switch sits at the top of the window and stays in the same place when you use it.
Chat#
The place where you describe what you want. skute writes a plan you can see, then does the work on the same timeline the Studio view edits.
Most whole cuts start here. "Make me a 30 second reel from Saturday" is one sentence here and twenty minutes of dragging anywhere else.
You can watch the cut from Chat. You do not need to switch views to see what happened.
Studio#
The full editor. Timeline, monitor, media bin, and a panel on the right that changes with whatever you have selected.
Colour work, speed, transforms, crops, effects, text and audio all live here.
Why two views and not two apps#
They are two ways of looking at one project. Same timeline, same media. Switching does not reload anything or lose your place, and nothing you did in one view is hidden in the other.
Most people settle into the same split. Chat for the shape of the cut, Studio for the detail. Ask for the assembly, then go and tighten the three cuts that bother you.
One small thing worth noticing: the switch never moves. It is the one control whose whole job is to change everything around it, so if it moved when you pressed it, your cursor would end up pointing at whatever slid in underneath.
