What is Skeet
A smart video editor where the timeline stays and the editor works with you.
Skeet is a video editor with a skilled editor built into it.
You can ask for what you want. You can also do it yourself. Most tools make you pick one. Here both write to the same timeline, so you can start with a sentence and finish by hand.
Say "build a 15 second teaser from the roof footage and cut it to the beat", and skute plans the edit, makes it, then watches it back before handing it to you. What you get is ordinary clips on an ordinary timeline. There is nothing to accept or convert. If the third cut runs long, you drag it.
The timeline stays#
Worth saying plainly, because many smart editors quietly remove it.
The timeline is not going anywhere. It gets calmer, not smaller. Tracks are grey by default so the only strong colour on screen is your footage. Track controls appear when you hover instead of taking up room all the time. Tools you rarely need sit one step away instead of on the surface.
You lose clutter. You keep frame level control.
It runs in the browser#
The engine that draws your video runs on your own machine, using your graphics card. Playback and export happen locally instead of asking a server to redraw every time you scrub. There is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated.
Your footage does not have to leave your machine either. When you drop a file in, it stays local until you choose to share it. See Adding media.
What it is not#
Skeet is not a template filler and not a one click generator. skute is editing your footage to your brief. It has opinions and will tell you when an idea will not work, but it cannot invent footage you did not shoot.
